Earlier this week, Opera Software had announced that as a special gift to all the dedicated Opera fans a special pre-alpha build Opera 10.5 will be unveiled on 22nd December. However, gHacks is reporting that an internal build has already been leaked. You can download it from here. The focus of 10.5 is on speed. Opera used to be renowned for its fast rendering speed, but over the last couple of years it has fallen behind other browsers. 10.5 (codenamed Evenes) is supposed to fix that. The internal build released uses the new rendering engine Presto 2.5.18, but doesn’t include Carakan (Opera’s new JavaScript rendering engine). However, Opera still has some time to make modifications and we will possibly see a never build on 22nd.
P.S. Detailed review coming up later.
Update: Check out my Visual Tour of Opera 10.5 for more information about this build. In the meantime Opera has officially responded:
There are some reports about an old internal build of 10.5 being available. Don’t run it, the official build on Tuesday is much better and you don’t risk getting nasty trojans on you pc.
If this build is quite old then there is still hope Carakan may make it to pre-alpha.
