This is the long overdue second part the series (the first part is available here) I am writing on tiny utilities. In each article I shall feature three outstanding software – all of which are smaller than two megabytes. In this article the softwares featured are – JDiskReport, FastStone Capture and Recuva.
JDiskReport
JDiskReport is a disk space Analyser. It scans you partitions and folders on your hard disk drive and identifies files and folders using up greatest amount of space, so you know what do delete if you are running short of disk space. JDiskReport helps you to analyse disk space usage through plethora of charts and graphs to show various statistics.

FastStone Capture
FastStone Capture (FSC) is an advanced screen capture utility that allows you to quickly take snaps anything on screen – windows, objects, menu, rectangular regions and freehand-selected regions. It can also take snaps of webpages in Microsoft Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera. However, what sets FastStone apart from most of it’s competition is it’s ability to capture scrolling object. If the object is too long to fit inside the window FSC has the ability to automatically scroll down and capture the full area.
FSC comes with an Editor allows you to do basic operations like adding shadow or torn edge effects, adding watermark or comments, cropping and cutting images. You can save captured image as BMP, JPEG, JPEG2000, PNG, GIF, TIFF, TGA and PDF file. Additionally FastStone Capture also has a screen magnifier and Colour Picker (Eye-Dropper).

Recuva
Recuva (pronounced “recover”) is a tiny Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. Unlike most other similar softwares, Recuva is completely free. Recuva comes from the makers of CCleaner – another awesome utility. Recuva can recover files deleted from your hard disk drive, mp3 player and memory cards. Recuva is not only small and functional but unbelievably fast.
It is still in beta. Hence, it does have some issues. Especially, it has a tendency to crash when dealing with a large number of files. Yet, this is a software you should have at your disposal. It’s a software that can save many a headache.

Great list, I would definitely make use of JDisk to check on files that i want to delete.
As for Faststone capture, it definitely would be a great tool for a blogger, so will try that out too
OK. You are talking about “outstanding software – all of which are smaller than two megabytes”. My utility Dirlot is of no doubt outstanding as to the matter of its own size. It is only 21 759 bytes (not Mbytes! just bytes) zipped and it is “disk space Analyser” as well. The utility uses however columnar diagram to present relative size of files and folders in parent folder. Try it.
Olexandr, thank you for leaving your comment behind.
Dirlot indeed is an outstanding utility for it’s size.
Another useful list of great utilities!
