I discovered Ginipic a couple of days ago via TechCrunch. And boy am I impressed! If you are not interested in image search then ignore this post. However, if you have a lot of images on your computer and/or require new images a lot, then GiniPic is for you.
GiniPic makes a solid first impression with its elegent and well thought of layout. You can either use GiniPic as a normal applicatin or Dock it to your screen. The later allows you to use GiniPic alongside other applications. GiniPic supports multiple sources including your own local collection (Ginipic allows only one folder as Local Source, however it can scan through sub folders). GiniPic supports all popular web galleries and search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, Flickr, Smugmug, DeviantArt, Photobucker, Picassa and so on. In depth options are available for each search engine.
Searching itself is pretty fast and efficient. When you click on a result, it displays a preview and presents a plethora of options including Save, Share (on social bookmarking and social networking websites) and Favourite. You can save images to the Lightbox viewer, tag them or save them as favourites. The best thing about GiniPic is that it automatically gets rid of duplicate results obtained from various sources.
GiniPic doesn’t really leave a lot of room for complaints. The only real complain I have about GiniPic is that it lacks filtering by Creative Commons License in Google Search (the same is available for Flickr). However to be fair to Ginipic, this feaure was introduced by Google only recently. I would also love to see basic image editing options like Rotate and Crop. GiniPic is an excellent utility which impresses with its brilliant execution. GiniPic may very well be the best Desktop Image Search application around.

I really loved the interface. And inspite of all that eye-candy, it is amazingly fast as well!
