It can be hard to keep track of the latest album releases, especially if you don’t watch a lot of VH1 or MTV. With a large number of new albums hitting the shelves every week, there is always the possibility that you may miss a new release by your favourite artist. This is where AlbumReminder comes in.
AlbumReminder is a web-based service that tracks more than 140,000 artists. No matter how off-beat your musical taste is, chances are that AlbumReminder will have your favourite artist. However, since it uses Amazon database don’t expect results for Indian artists. After signing up AlbumReminder prompts you to enter the names of your favourite artists or bands. You may add upto fifty artists at a time. This can be a time consuming and laborious process. AlbumReminder is definitely missing a trick here, by not offering Last.fm integration. I hope the option to add artists from Last.fm’s “Top Artists ” stream will be included in the near future.
AlbumReminder will automatically send you an email update when a new album from your favourite artist is released. If you wish you can also choose to be notified a few days in advance of the release. A customised RSS feed is also available.
AlbumReminder is a simple service that is a huge boon to music lovers like me. What I love about it is that you can configure it once and then forget about it. If you are passionate about music give it a try. I am sure you would find it useful.
Fails for me, I cannot be arsed to put in a list of artists/bands in there if I could remember the artists/bands I can very well remember that there is an album comming up, why not rather let me choose a genre and I get notifications for that particular genre.
Yeah, they need to improve their artist adding mechanism. What I did was simply open-up last.fm and add my top 10 artists manually.
