It’s a pity that Last.fm radio is no longer a free service all over the world. Nevertheless, it is still a pretty inexpensive way to listen to loads of high quality songs. Of course, like most other online radio services Last.fm doesn’t allow you to download songs to your computer.
Fortunately, there are quite a few third party utilities, which can help you out. I am not sure if recording radio is legal everywhere. It is probably allowed in India, since the market is flooded with mobile phones that have FM radio recording capabilities. Nevertheless, you might want to check out your country’s stand on recording radio streams before going ahead with it.
Coming back to the topic, the easiest way to save Last.fm streams is to use TheLastRipper. It is an excellent utility that allows you to easily locate music you wish to hear and then rip it to your hard disk. It automatically downloads the appropriate cover art and appends correct ID3v2 tags to the MP3 files. Other features include automatic organisation of downloaded music, generation of playlists and integration with MP3tunes Music Locker.
TheLastRipper is a perfect solution if you want to have a backup of songs you have listened to on Last.fm. It’s free, open source and available for Windows, Linux and Mac.
