    I hate humans’ stupidity.

Yeah this is all about greed. But if we see this from a webmaster prospective it these ads that keep them up! Let’s face it.

    ..:: peace ::..

I agree Jeba.If he can device an effective script that prevents ads from being blocked it is ok.However,he has decided to block two browsers completely! How silly this is evident from the fact that you can’t acces the site without ad blockers with Opera and Firefox, but it can be easily accesed without ads if i fake my useragent using proxomitron or I am using Maxthon.
Neither Firefox nor Opera support ad-blockers inherently. They are addons.Just like it is with Internet Explorer.

Blocking Opera and Firefox: Yet another silly webmasterThere are webmasters out there who don’t like that the ads they’re showing on their web pages can be blocked. Which is understandable, of course – ads give them a revenue so that they can keep on doing what they do. How webmasters react to …

  6. Rowan Lewis

    What a retard!

One of his reasons for blocking those browsers is because they “steal” from him. Now I find this amazingly stupid considering the amount of actual stolen content available in his website.

I also get the feeling that this guy is colour blind, considering the Times New Roman, and pale yellow/green colours used on the website. Perhaps its a good thing? Perhaps IE users will get so scared when visiting the site that they will try another browser just so they don’t have to worry about seing those colours on their screen ever again?

    Who knows…

  7. balamm

Well, I decided to start implementing server bans as well since this last commenter showed up spouting more of his nonsense at our forums.
I don’t know where He’s seeing “pale yellow/green colours”. Maybe it’s just his choice of browser rendering those odd “colors” 😉
Anyway, I’d challenge him to show me any stolen content anywhere.
All the images we use are stored in an invision database and served from there just like the invision agreement states.
Most of the images on the forum are created by members like Aiwan, Hoosierdude, Exile, Myself, and many others.
He read the terms of use when he signed up to post garbage and get himself banned but I guess when you’re that fanatical and so far from reason, nothing sinks in.
Anyway, Traffic has doubled so I don’t mind doing a little clean up after the whiners. It’s all good :))

  8. Pallab

    Balamm,
would you mind explaining exactly why you hate Opera and Firefox so much?:-/

  9. balamm

It’s probably due to the superiority complexes of their users.
I’ve always worked outside the mainstream and refuse to be forced to accept a dull gray internet created from the w3c opensource standards mould.
I’m here to be entertained and to entertain others. Not to worry about who uses what tags in the source of their website pages.
If your software was half as good as you claim, it would be intuitive enough to compensate and coexist with any markup language, compliant to your pipe dreams or not.
I had Opera installed for a few minutes last month and all I could think was “what the hell is this garbage?”
I used to like it way back but I’m afraid desperation has taken it’s toll on a lot of programs and programmmers.
Like so many other new programs, I just don’t see a need for it.
But, aside from all that, flipflopping the issues doesn’t change the fact that Opera saw fit to fake user agents. Like I said before, the only person who could benefit from that is a leech.

    Consider this:
    You knock on my door.
I don’t know you and don’t like the way you look. I certainly don’t want you in my home so I send you away.
You put on a Cop disguise and return to knock on my door again hoping I’ll let you in this time.

Are you some kind of nut?
When you’re not wanted and not welcome, go away! It’s that simple.
Who in their right mind would create a software like this and claim innocence?

Who in their right mind would be so comsumed by defending it?

You went to great lengths to show me you could leech despite this simple script. I think that speaks a lot about your character and motivation.

  10. Pallab

Before anything else I would ask you, what does the words used by you in your forum indicate about your character?
I showed you the ways I could leech just to proove that your script is inefficient. My question is why are you targetting browers instead of ad-blocking softwares?I checked the list of useragents you were blocking I couldnt find Maxthon (which comes with ad-hunter) and proxomitron in the list.

Your post just shows that you now absolutely nothing about the two companies and you are consumed with the worst browser available(not only in terms of standard compliance but also features and performance).Think about the chaos that would exist if different browsers render the same code differently. That is why W3C is neeed.Opera however never said that they wont support anything other than W3C.
This is what Opera’s CTO H?kon Wium Lie had said when I had asked him about support for advanced non standard features like Xhttp –

Gmail and other advanced applications are pushing the limits of what browsers can do. That’s great, and we will make sure we can run them. Also, we’ll work hard to make the applications run on mobile devices. Finally, we have to make sure the techniques are documented somewhere and WHAT WG is an effort to do so.

Also check the changelog for Opera v9 beta. That shows that they are adding support for more and more standards.

And as far as faking useragents is concerned it was specifically added for tackling webmasters like you and also the inexperienced webmasters who unkowingly use outdated scripts that dont work with Opera.

But initially your argument was that you blocked Opera and Firefox as it blocked ads and it helped in leeching. Why are you now moving away from your initial argument?

Opera and Firefox has created a software far superior than Microsoft internet explorer. Why are you ignoring the wonderfull features that both of them provide but Ie does not?

  11. balamm

Why are you spouting rhetoric instead of providing facts?
You’re just folowing the anti MS anti IE mob mentallity. It has nothing to do with how the browser works.
IE works just fine for every site I’ve ever visited. Maybe you’re a failed IE user, bitter because you don’t have what it takes to run a pure windows operating system. Well, not everyone is as capable those of us who do maintain pure systems. Don’t feel too bad about it, but also don’t attack the rest of the world because they can manage something you can’t.

You’re one of those “interpretive” readers.
You don’t grasp written language, you create your own version of what you read.
I said from the start that Opera was designed to leech and fake headers and UA’s.
If you didn’t read it that way, then your educational system needs work.
I’ve used Opera. I know what it can and can’t do. Don’t be laying your bullshit on me. If what you claimed was true, you’d be on a bandwagon to have Opera banned for the way it does NOT display pages properly.
You’re so [edited] worried about “standards”, why not worry about standards of integrity and honesty instead.

  12. Microsoft FAN

Um balamm… How is Opera “designed to leech”?

And any half competent webmaster knows that Opera never hides its true identity. “Opera” is always part of the useragent string.

As for IE displaying pages “correctly”, it doesn’t. It’s just that people test their pages in IE and adapt them to work around IE’s bugs.

Noticed on your site that you weren’t making any money, and you also “banned Google” for not giving you a higher rank in the search results. I find that just amazing. You haven’t been penalized, it’s just that other sites are better than yours. I know it’s hard to accept, but that’s a fact.

  13. Pallab

Balamm, get this thing very clear!I won’t tolerate any filthy language over here! Please, first go and learn manners.I hope that you don’t need to be taught how to speak in a public place.

Balamm you are speaking just like an ignorant newbee.I choose my software only and only based on performance.
Let drift away from this debate a little.
As I mentioned I chose opera as it performs better than IE.However it is clear that you never even bothered to try it out,so you wont know. Can you make IE do the following?
a)Resume from where I left browsing last time.Does IE have a session manager?
b)Can IE resize pages and fit it to window width to remove horizontal scrolling?
c)Can IE be controlled via voice?
d)Can you emulate Opera show in IE?
e)Does IE have Copy to note feature?
f)Ie doesnt inherently support Mouse Gestures

It just shows that you are not mature enough to respect other people’s choices.Seriously how old are you?You speek like a thirteen year old stepping into the teens.

Also what Microsoft FAN said is true.If you change the ua using F12 your identity isnt completely hideen. And balamm it’s because of immature webmasters like you that Opera has been forced to add this feature. And if I bypass your ua check by faking my ua then I am doing nothing wrong.

  14. balamm

    Not making money? lol!!!
Google was banned for a number of reasons. It’s stale, it’s corrupt, it’s no longer relevant, they added filters to certain words and phrases on my site to prevent anything but crap ads from showing, and more.
I’d show you the corresponence with Google execs but I promised not to.
Maybe when MSN replaces googleads… 😉

I’m a hell of a lot older than you people and a hell of a lot wiser.
I don’t have to respect a bunch of whiny bedwetters who want something they’re not entitiled to.
That’s the beauty of capitalism and free enterprise.
Something users like you just don’t understand.
So you don’t like the word “bullshit” eh? That is truly sad. I guess your “open internet” statement was just more of that then. 😉 Open under your terms only.
Anyway… The increased traffic and subscriptions from this little tantrum has been great! Keep bitching about us, we’re loving it! 🙂

  15. Pallab

Bullshit isnt the word that was edited. Please open you eyes.

  16. Anand

Oh. A self-declared wise guy.. eh? Camino blocks all your ads.. even safari.. and I can still open you site. Mr. webmaster, match that.

So wise guy, what next? You think you’re doing some big thing by just allowing IE in. I don’t promote Opera/Firefox, but certainly asking people to visit sites such as yours on IE is like asking them to invite death. i know the real reason behind all this shit. You just need some publicity, don’t you?

Now don’t go on and tell me I use windows and am talking against Microsoft…windows is too retarted to be used 😉 Have u ever heard about Apple. I use it’s products.. block ads on your site.. and you can’t do s*** about it. Block safari and camino 🙂

  17. Microsoft FAN

I notice that balamm refuses to answer specific questions and concerns from others. He has yet to explain how Opera is “designed to leech”.

  18. balamm

Camino blocks all your ads.. even safari.. and I can still open you site. Mr. webmaster, match that.

I can match that, there are no ads! The redirects are random!
    Hahahaha!!!!!
    fools! 😛
Your fanaticism is an excellent tool for generating traffic and you fall right into it.
Problem here is, opera is too insignificant to matter much. But the firefox militants are performing wonderfully :p

Anand [Visitor], learn how to spell. Then design a few operating systems or work in their design. Then I may allow you to speak. In the meantime, you don’t have any knowledge on the matter other than what rhetoric you’ve heard from others.
If I’m wrong, then tell me what made Amdahl famous,Without looking it up on google 😉
Show me any software you’ve created.
Show me what contributions you’ve made, if any, to computing or web development.
    Show me your certifications.
I’m certified with MS and Openwave, have developer status at sourceforge and freshmeat, have contributed to a number of other opensource and non opensource projects, developed applications to work on both windows and unix that no one else has been able to duplicate. I built and sold 3 Cable ISP’s before my 22nd birthday, did contract work for every major ISP on the west coast of canada for over 25 years.
I suspect you’re still living in your parents home and unemployed.

Yeah, like I respect what you think. 😉

  19. Anand

I study in one of my country’s top commerce colleges.

    Period.

  20. Anand

I hope you got the message there 😉

If you’re intelligent, you’ll get it…. You may have done wonders, but why are you bragging about it? There are thousands and thousand of developers around the world. If you’re not humble, the world doesn’t care shit for you.. remember that.

Fine, who cares what you think.

    Look at the attitude. *sigh*

  21. Pallab

    I agree with you Anand.
Also balamm I asked you a simple question -Why did you call Opera and Firefox a leech browser?
You havent been able to give any valid reason whatsoever.Instead you are flamming, abusing and bragging.

  22. atul

smiley generator is crap anyways adware sh*t
no regrets being blocked by crap :))

  23. Aedan

The solution: easy, search other alternative website with the same or similar job but made by a real professional webmaster, and leave out this pathetic pseudo-site made by uneducated teenager pseudo-webmaster who doesn’t have so sufficient reasons to block Opera or Firefox and now only tries to insult.

  24. Microsoft FAN

Mr. Dasky may be in for a nasty surprise when the authorities look into the spyware he is secretly distributing through his site.

And it’s too late to remove it now. The evidence has already been collected.

And your education and manners, too, which are far more important. And you can say now “No, I’m a expert developing webpages” haha, who believes that. If you would be a expert and doesn’t want to his ads to be blocked, then you would be writing a script which detects any ad blocked by ANY application and then denying the access like Kenneth L Barbalace do it his webpage which detects the banners blocked and then denies the access, but doesn’t not block any browsers which don’t block ads. And at least he has manners unlike you, rude and inmature

“but doesn’t not block any browsers” I want to say “but doesn’t block any browsers”

lol!! What next? balamm is a commie?
Yeah, I’m secretly collecting all your IP’s for a foreign superpower who plans to invade and take over your moms basement. Watch out, the telletubbies are coming! hahahahah.
Get a grip on reality buddy, anyone with half a brain can see what you’re about.
Yeah, go find a better site. We won’t miss you. It’s not like your faked UA was contributing to Opera’s standing as a legitimate browser or your own integrity anyway.
I’m sure there are a large number of other sites with unlimited resources offering my image and animation services for freeloaders like yourselves 😉

Love the colors on this site by the way. Real nice shades of opensource standard w3c compliant gray. Really livens up the web!
Not dull, boring, and unimaginitive at all 😉

I’ll don’t bother to change my settings because of your pseudo-site! hehe, is more productive to search a REAL site offering its own smilies but made by a real webmaster and real person. And I never go to visit yours even if I modified my settings and now I could access to it.
And your “site” isn’t the only one that offers its own smilies, idiot. Goggle the correct terms and see. Or visit other forums and compare different types of smilies.
And the colors doesn’t matter, what matters is the information that the site has. Other reason more you are a mindless pseudo-webmaster.

  29. Aedan

And even you don’t bother to answer the questions already stablished here. What happens is that you don’t have reasons to do that “dirty work” and you now try to switch topic.
    Conclusion: You are painful.

  30. Aedan

Naturally, “dirty work” means the browser-blocking policy of him, not the answering the questions 😉

  31. Pred

    Hmm…balamm…

If you really did all of those things, I would assume you’re in a fairly nice financial state. In which case, buy your own webspace and don’t bother with ads, and let the decent browsers back into your website.

Oh. And I notice you still haven’t answered the people who asked why you think Opera and Firefox are “leech browsers”.

And to that thing about the cop disguise – it’s a totally crap comparison, quite simply.

A website is somewhere anyone can access it, unless there are passwords/similar. If someone knocks on your door, then you choose whether or not they can get in. Not the same thing. If you want your website to just be for select people, then by all means block out everyone except the few that you regularly get, as well as the 11% of Firefox users and the x% of Opera users.

  32. Aedan

It’s not like your faked UA was contributing to Opera’s standing as a legitimate browser or your own integrity anyway.

BTW I don’t have faked UA, genius, the mine is the original one because I want to the best browsers out there (Opera and Firefox) increase its stadistics. How I said before, I WON’T visit your “site” anymore, even if faking the UA could get the access, because I don’t want to pollute my worthy and clean computer with your crap.

Don’t make illusions if your traffic doubles, the vast majority of it are users who visit it and then leave it, for curiosity about the blocking method and so on. Before making stupid random statements like the above quoted, think twice about what you have to say.

  33. tomfin

    Gentlemen,

We are fussing too much. The webmaster here has made repeated references to their ads generating revenue as visitors browse the site. By closing the doors to certain browsers, they are actively preventing themselves from generating that revenue, and indeed driving potential customers away as they find themselves unable to access the site.

This is officially known as shooting oneself in the foot. It’s also a rather like cutting off their nose to spite their face.

As FireFox and Opera users, I expect we do tend to get a little heated about being blocked from sites, particularly when it seems unfair and unnecessary (TV company Showtime’s curt handling of non-US visitors springs to mind here).

It’s fair to ask the webmaster to update their site to something more accessible to all, but badgering doesn’t help. We should simply move on – the web has plenty to offer elsewhere.

Refusing potential customers while harping about capitalism amid pages of flames is patent madness. Simply leave, it’s their loss, not ours.

Thank you for reading, I hope this makes sense.

    Tom

  34. Anand

hehe.. don’t they say.. education instills manners in a person. However rich a person may get, but if he isn’t educated.. he won’t have manners, would brag about his achievements at the first possible instance and be rude to others.

Ballam or whatever is your name, even CEOs of companies don’t have an attitude like you. Also, you conveniently choose to ignore the questions regarding Maxthon. Why isn’t it blocked. It blocks ads far better than any of the “secure” browsers can do. Also why isn’t my browser being re-directed? It has an in-built ad blocker too.

I guess you are just frustated with life.

    Anyways.. who cares..

    Regards

  35. Rowan Lewis

tomfin, its now moved on to the phase I like to call “spanking the ignorant monkey”.

Ballam, the fact that all the blogs posting about how stupid you have been now have a higher rank than your site, so any search for ‘smiley generator’ will link people to these posts instead of your site , is amusing.

What is also laughable, is the way you denounce the colouring of this site, when your own is so much worse. Sure this site is grey and bland, but al least I can read it without having to get my eyes checked after.

Even more pathetic is the notion that we where going to call you a ‘commie’ (being a communist doesn’t apply any of the things you think it does

Even more pathetic is the notion that we where going to call you a ‘commie’ (being a communist doesn’t apply any of the things you think it does). This really just shows us what you would call other people as an insult. It makes you look like an arrogant American wanker (which you really are).

You’ve also accused Anand of being bad at spelling (English), without knowing where he is from. seeing how the Internet is not something only Americans have access to, he could very well only have limited knowledge of English. Where as you, with your poor spelling (no better than Anand), are from America, a country where English is taught as the first language.

Its interesting to note, that despite your supposed good education, your spelling is on par with a 13 year old.

    Have a good day, looser.

  37. Pallab

Actually Anand has a very good knowledge of english.Incase you don’t know he has written for reputed online as well as printed english journals in India. But frankly most of us don’t really bother about spelling when are typing on the keyboard.

Balamm, in all your comments you haven’t answered my main question i.e. What makes you call Opera and Firefox leech browsers.

  38. Anand

oh well now I have to use punctuation on the net!

Good lord! When will the world understand that we’re a Commonwealth country. English is the primary language in our country. Even government correspondence is in English.

    *Sigh*

I never knew you guys gave so much importance to punctuation and spellings in blogs! Come on!

  39. Anand

For your information, English is taught as the first language here too and it seems you don’t know about the education system in our country.

Just research a bit..You’d know why it is so rigorous.

Where else in the world you have to actually “learn” 1000 pages for a 50 marks exam 😉

  40. Rowan Lewis

Was that directed at me? If so, I don’t know what country you are from, I implied that you might not come from a country that speaks English as a first language, I meant no offence to you Anand.

I like to keep my spelling in check at all times. Pedantic? Yep! 🙂

    Our entertaining favourite web”master” wrote:

“I built and sold 3 Cable ISP’s before my 22nd birthday, did contract work for every major ISP on the west coast of canada for over 25 years.”

Hmmm… okay for the sake of argument lets say that our favourite webmaster got his first contract work at an ISP at the age of 20 and the last contract work in 2004. So his first contract work for an ISP was in 1979 and our favourite webmaster built and sold 3 cable ISPs before 1981.

    Conclusion:

Our favourite webmaster sold cable ISPs 15 years before the by cable standards sluggish 56k modem was invented in 1996 by Dr. Brent Townshend.

  42. blocked

I don’t know what dimension you’re from but but you’re dates are very screwy.
Check out rs232 circa 1982 or earlier.
From there on, cable was slow to propagate but if you had the money, you could get it. Same as fiber.
You think it’s new? It already old technology.
Most cables systems are actually running almost 30 years behind what’s presently available.
Just because cable was not available in your country at that time, doesn’t mean we didn’t have it.
Contract work at 20? No, I made it quite clear. I built the sytems and sold them. From there, I did contract work and retired at 40. That was a few years ago incase your still having trouble with the math 😉

  43. blocked

Just in case you’re having trouble referencing this,

In January 1982 I moved to NJ and started a job working for Ecom (a CATV/broadband modem and digital communications engineering firm) doing assembly language programming for Cosmac Elf 1802, and z80 using Futuredata tools. The project I was working on was the TRU-100 cable TV computer communications device. The device participated in a polling network where one station would talk to a couple of hundred other devices and communicate small amounts of data. On the client devices the data would be converted into parallel port data (read or written to i/o ports), serial port data (at 9600 baud or less) and sometimes streams of data logged from the parallel ports and transmitted to the host station. Communications was bidirectional over a low speed link occupying pieces of a pair of CATV channels television channels.

    Link: http://homepage.mac.com/tadd/comphist/comphist.html

He got into it a little late actually.

I’d suggest you research CATV “push pull” tecnology.
2 way addressable multitaps have been in use for many years.
Even before widespread internet use, cable back channels were being used for programming and system monitoring.
The major west coast systems began the full scale switch to digital around 82 0r 83. I had better cashflow than the older CATV systems and none of the government regulations applied to me at the time so I was free to go with the best and I did!
I’m not going to bother checking your dates for the 56k modem because it just doesn’t make sense when so many of our subscribers were on cable broadband modems well before that time.
The date for 56k dialup may actually be correct but it has Nothing to do with cable or fiber systems, RF, and digital communications.

I’d love to teach you more but I usually get paid for that. 😉

  44. Prophet

and yet he still hasnt answered the questions asked…..

i think hes just a lier who injoys making himself feel good by pissing people off,

in other words hes a cs kiddie (cs=counter strike)
no manners at all just alot of poor typing and bullshit.

dude grow up i got around your browser check 5 diffrent ways just to prove ur check sucks. and NONE of them requiered me changing the .opera name of opera….if ur so good at programing then stop me from being able to access ur site :O

  45. babumuchhala

It looks like ballam has no answers to the question “How FF & Opera are leaching his site?”

Plus looks like he has opened access to all including FF & Opera.

Maybe this means he’s lost the battle 😀

  46. Blocked

babumuchhala, can you read at all?
I haven’t lost anything. There never were any ads. There are no checks.
You people have been used to the max! :))
Although I do now have a way of kicking those using Opera or firefox with a fake UA if I decide to. Seems there’s a serious privacy flaw in both those browsers that doesn’t exist in IE so identifying them via a little “script” is very easy 😉

Prophet, I’ve never even looked at counter strike. You seem well aquainted with it though. Maybe you should stick to that instead of trying to act all 1337. All you’ve done is shown what a fool you are, even after I explained how I’d used you all!

Thanks very much for making such a fuss and bring our site to the attention of thousands more users 🙂
You might want to focus your efforts in some other direction next time though to avoid the sting lol

  47. Ricky123

😀 all u jerks , dont u understand , that it is his site , and he can do whatever he wants with it ,

Opera and Firefox are crap browsers , ho shot to fame by spreading lies about IE :> ,now dont ask me to prove it :-/ cuz i am not going to waste time with u the way balamm Did ,

@ balamm why the hell u wasted ur time talking to noobs like these , they dont know anything about u or ur site,

  48. Pallab

Itz very easy to post a flame like that. But it takes a lot more to actually provide valid reasons.
Btw,why can’t you understand the simple thing? If he can do whatever with his site I can also make a comment about it in my blog.I challenged him to provide valid reasons for blocking Opera. He failed. And well I know that you only blindly follow your guru.So I wont ask you to do that.
Yes,I don’t know anything about balamm.I can comment only on what I have seen. And he has acted in a very immature way.Thats all I can say.

  49. Prophet

    your funny really.

i avoid cs and the likes of you in my gaming and forum crawling exp m8. because dealing with stupid people who think they are 1337 is quite boring. I mean really why bother dealing with people who will flaim others because they wont agree with him the microsoft is the best?
I mean really I have my oppenion and many people, including scrurity experts happen to agree that IE is total crap and shouldnt be used for anything more then windows update.

  50. blocked

Yeah.. ok… have another drink there buddy. 😉
    You’re almost comprehensible :))

Your “scrurity experts” don’t know sh*t.
Opera and firefox both have their own security issues to deal with as evidenced by the latest script running on my main index.
I’ve only scripted for browsers pretending to be IE so far because I really don’t give a sh*t about “wanna be” browsers pretending to be another “wanna be” browser.
The only flaming you’re getting is for being feeble minded and too drunk too type a clear sentence 😉
Drugs and alcohol make you stupid(er) ya know :))
How much you getting paid for plugging this software anyway?
I know palab’s just in it for the glory and attention..
but to be as angry, obnoxious, and fanatical as you are about this for no cash? That’s just very sad and hard to believe unless you actually are an active developer of one of these highly over rated problem browsers.
And judging by the communication skills you’ve displayed here, I seriously doubt that.

Oh, and palab, You do know the difference between overflows, scrolling divs, framesets, and iframes?

Smileygenerator is one of the few sites still using almost extinct frames

No, I don’t think you do or you wouldn’t have posted such drivel.
There are no framesets anywhere on any of my sites. Iframes and hidden iframes on the other hand are quite usefull and are employed by many major opensource portals and CMS’s.
I think you’ll find 3 or 4 on my main index for smileygenerator.us.
You really should try to at least have a basic grasp on the subjects you tackle. Challenging people who know the difference at this point is just making you look like an idiot who’s out for acceptance from other idiots.

  51. Pallab

Balamm.Enough of these kind of posts. If you cant post in a decent manner then please dont.If you have any valid points to share then please go ahead. But otherwise there is no point in making posts like these.
From this point onwards any out of topic comments would be deleted.
As for as security issue is concerned check http://www.secunia.com and compare the security track record of Ie,Firefox and Opera.

  52. blocked

Sorry, I prefer to believe only unbiased sites who have no agenda to promote one software over another. I doubt you have access to the level of information or reports I receive though so it’s not surprising that you’d refer people to that site.

So addressing the security issues with Opera and firefox is off topic?
    I don’t see how.
You bitched about me playing opera and firefox users and said there was no reason for it. Well, here’s just one more reason not to use them and not to like them. At least not until they mature enough to admit they have major problems. Just as many as IE does if not more! Explain it away if you want. I’ll just go deeper into them and find more holes to exploit next week.
Me 1337? Nah, just not easily fooled by propaganda and hype.

  53. Pallab

Opera is more secure.I am sure you have heard of secunia.Check their site for confirmation.
And again this has no relation with my topic. You said that Opera and Firefox are leech browsers that promoted theft and fraud. That is what I wrote about. Not how good a browser Opera is.

  54. Ricky123

no i think ur going offtopic , the whole topic was why balamm banned opera and firefox , which answer is very simple , he doesnt like it ,

but u people want to force ur crap browsers on others , opera maybe the worlds greatest browser , but if some one doesnt like , u cant do anything about it ,
    CAN YOU ? :p

  55. babumuchhala

Well its one thing not liking a browser and banning it another.

If he dosent like these two browsers i.e. Opera & firefox the he should have straight away mentioned that “I dont Like these browsers & are banned on my site” instead of blaming Opera & Firefox being leacers & stuff.

Plus ricky if we agree with u that Opera & Firefox is Crap. then IE for sure is CRAPPIEST browser currently out there.

  56. Pallab

but u people want to force ur crap browsers on other

Can you tell me how am i forcing Opera on others? It was balamm try to force IE on others and on top of that giving extremely lame and stupid reasons which none of you have been able to defend.

  57. mors

    from balamn
“”Opera is just as bad but even worse for the crappy way it handles site layout and “drag and drop”.””

No wonder there – the html is all wrong, pages badly formated and organized. what would you expect ?!? Opera to have the exact same error recovery algorithms that ie ?!? if you respected w3c recomendations your site would look great in any browser. that’s what they’re for

  58. blocked

we don’t need to defend anything. Your less than 6% market share says it all.
People just don’t like opera and with many valid reasons.
Mine is that it’s proponents consider themselves above the rest of us and tend to be non commerce supporting, and hell bent on proving they can ripp off legitimate online businesses by skirting browser checks, ads, and webmasters. Aided of course by the software itself.
You tell me it’s insecurity or unfair treatment that forces opera to identify itself as IE6.
I say it’s a matter of trying to gain access to places where you and your browser are not welcome. In my case because it looks like crap, handles pages like crap, has MAJOR safety and security issues, comes default with a faked UA, and isn’t popular enough to be considered a supported browser.
From what I’ve seen on your blog and on the opera site itself, The majority of opera supporters are just uneducated and possibly damaged people with very bad attitudes who pretend to know everything about everything but only really know what they read from others like yourself and a few so called mainstream “scrurity experts” websites.
I don’t how many times I can explain to you that a browser that provides the ability to send false information on a whim and displays things differently than it was intended sends a clear message to me that it’s purpose is not honourable.
It is certainly not the kind of software that ordinary honest web users would ever need!
And I would highly recommend that ordinary users stay far away from it as long as it opens old sites and pages or sessions by default.
That’s a nightmare just waiting to happen.

  59. Rowan Lewis

Actually moron, you have alot to defent.

Your site is so utterly worthless and poorly coded that some browsers have issues with it, and then you blame those browsers and call them crap and poorly coded?

“People just don’t like opera and with many valid reasons.”
People don’t like IE for many valid reasons:
    1. Its insecure
    2. Its insecure
    3. Its still insecure
    4. Five years from now, it will be even more insecure because MS can’t be arsed fixing it
    5. It has poor support from standards that allow web developers to produce sites that work in all browsers

And when morons like you try to push it on people, what do you expect?

“I say it’s a matter of trying to gain access to places where you and your browser are not welcome.”
Not welcome? Because the author of a page is to stupid to go to http://www.w3.org and read up on standards?

“In my case because it looks like crap, handles pages like crap, has MAJOR safety and security issues, comes default with a faked UA, and isn’t popular enough to be considered a supported browser.”
You know, that sounds like your describing most of the flaws in IE.

Oh, IE isn’t a popular browser, everyone that knows anything about web development hates it, and the people that use it only use it because its the default on their system.

“From what I’ve seen on your blog and on the opera site itself, The majority of opera supporters are just uneducated and possibly damaged people with very bad attitudes who pretend to know everything about everything but only really know what they read from others like yourself and a few so called mainstream “scrurity experts” websites.”

Big words coming from someone who can’t even produce valid HTML. Fact is, these people are not pretending, they actually do know more than you.

“I don’t how many times I can explain to you that a browser that provides the ability to send false information on a whim and displays things differently than it was intended sends a clear message to me that it’s purpose is not honourable.”
Whereas, a developer who sends badly formed HTML is perfectly acceptable, and justified?

“It is certainly not the kind of software that ordinary honest web users would ever need!”
Actually, its this very software that helps save the web from morons like you, who think its OK to send invalid, poorly written HTML, just because they want to do their own thing.

“That’s a nightmare just waiting to happen.”
Sure, and your helping maintain that nightmare.

Face it balamn, everyone else here knows more than you do about these things, sure you might have been one of the big guys back in the day, but today your knowledge is lacking to the extent that everyone thinks your a moron, with no clue.

Well, perhaps thats exactly what you are?

  60. Rowan Lewis

    Oh, I nearly forgot!

Since this whole thing started, your sites rank has gone down, and your not even on the first page in MSN Search for “smilie generator”…

All the people complaining about your stupidity are ranked above you.

  61. Ricky123

90% of the people use IE from many years, i use IE but i dont get any viruses or spyware ,

the only people who need opera are the people who are very lazy to maintain thier pc , or are running buggy linux ,

if u had winxpsp2 with all the updates and IE ,u will have no security problems, so stop spreading lies ,:-/

the only thing Opera and FF is know for is spreading lies , cuz that is the only way they can be in bussiness,

trying to scare people and making them use Crap browsers ,

IE Rules the Web , and will Rule for the next Decade , :>>

Opera future will be like Netscape 😛

  62. Pallab

I don’t how many times I can explain to you that a browser that provides the ability to send false information on a whim and displays things differently than it was intended sends a clear message to me that it’s purpose is not honourable.

You clearly show that you have no knowledge about Opera and it’s history.I have said it before and I would say it again.Opera is doing it as many webmasters (like you) block Opera purposely, while others unknowingly use scripts that sends bad code to Opera.
Do have a look at http://operawatch.blogspot.com/2005/11/yahoo-discriminating-against-opera.html

And session manager is the most wonderfull feature in Opera. And other browsers like Maxthon and Firefox(through extensions) have also embraced it.
Ie is prehistoric and Microsoft is always so slow to react.
First tabbed browser was released in 1994.
Ms added tabbed browsing in 2005.
If you check secunia you would notice that Ms hasnt even bothered to fix many security vulnerabilities.

Btw, Ie can’t even manage to display my blog properly.I admit that it isnt a valid CSS but Opera as well as Firefox manages to render it better than IE.

  63. blocked

Idiots who use german spelling to search for a US site name or english product deserve to get no results :))
Don’t know as much as you thought you did eh? :))
I don’t give a flying f*ck what you think of my html. All you’re seeing is the end result of over 50 includes.
Not at all suprising then that there will be things out of order. At least it’s not a pasty gray out of the box cookie cutter CMS.
I don’t pretend to be w3c god compliant like you frauds do. It just doesn’t interest me at all that opera isn’t intuitive enough to display a simple overflow or scrolling div.

AS far as your site looking like sh*t in IE, you might try using a calculator next time you play with the padding.

Your session manager garbage kinda rules out the use of Opera in any internet cafe or public library. I hope!
    And tabs? Yuck!

You know you all would make the Iraqi propaganda minister very proud.
“There are no bugs, no. there are not.. It is the best. You are completely safe. There is no need to worry, the infidels are all lying…”

Well, since palab and friends have turned this into non intelligent drivel and flames with no substance, while censoring the views and posts of others, there’s not much point in continuing this.
Think I’ll head over to sans and read the unbiased and uncensored security alerts on alternative browsers.
    Secunia… lol! What an amateur.

  64. Pallab

Enough have been said.It is clear that you dont have any really valid explanation.

You call secunia an ameteur. That itself prooves something.

You perhapds dont even know that resuming last session can be disabled in Opera.

Anyway, I have had enough of your silly comments.
Commenting has been disabled in this topic now.
